Whilst we welcome dogs in the pub, are dog lovers ourselves and have between us 3 large happy dogs, we are aware that not everyone is as enamoured of dogs as we are....So please make sure your dog is well behaved.... does not greet other customers like long lost friends with attendant licks and wags, sits quietly and peacefully and minds his or her own business!!!

The Ship is a small busy pub and especially during evening service space is extremely limited for both customers and staff! If you can leave your dog behind in either car or holiday accommodation we would appreciate it, if not then you are welcome to bring Fido into the pub as long as you keep in mind these few rules!

  • Please don't bring water bowls into the pub
  • Please don't bring a wet & smelly dog into the pub.
  • Please make sure you tuck your dog under a table.
  • Don’t allow your dog to roam free around the pub.
  • Keep your dog on a short lead.
  • Please don’t allow your dog to sit on the furniture .
  • Not all dogs are good with crowds of people so if it looks like your dog is not enjoying it then just head off and come back another time when it’s a bit quieter.
  • The odd woof now and again is fine but if your dog is barking excessively, please take it outside or just head home and try again another time.
  • To avoid injury to your dog (or anyone else) make sure your dog isn’t blocking a walkway or in a place where people may trip up (or stand on its tail). OW!!!! Especially make sure that staff can get past and get on with their job of making sure that everyone's visit to The Ship is as pleasurable as possible.

                                                                  Thank you!
